Funding for the Project
The John Evans Centenary Project was generously funded by The Leverhulme Trust. The Leverhulme Grant supported in total four years of project work through two consecutive grants: The Intellectual Network of John Evans (2005) and John Evans and the Development of Archaeolgy in Nineteenth-Century Europe (2006).
The Project was initiated in 2003 when a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund allowed for professional archival listing of the broad contents of the Evans archive. The catalogue is now mounted on the website of the Access to Archives (A2A) programme of The National Archives.
The Project culminated in 2008 with the formal launch of the present website, which coincided with publication of a celebratory volume ( to mark the centenary of Evan's death.
